A Christmas Session that felt like coming home
Some sessions stay with you in a way that is hard to put into words. My Christmas shoot with Jenna, her husband Nathan, and their four beautiful girls is one of those moments that lives deep in my heart. They were my first ever paying clients, the family who believed in me before I even fully believed in myself. Every time I photograph them, I am reminded of where this journey began and why I love what I do.
Walking into their session this year felt like stepping into a familiar story, one filled with laughter, sisterly chaos, and the kind of love that only grows richer with time. Their girls, now ages eight through fourteen, have blossomed into such distinct personalities. Each one carries her own spark, yet together they move like a little constellation, bright and connected. Watching them interact is like watching a family rhythm that has been practiced for years: teasing, giggling, nudging, and then suddenly melting into the sweetest moments of closeness.
Jenna and Nathan have this steady, grounded presence that sets the tone for the whole session. They parent with such ease, guiding their girls with gentle words and warm smiles. There is something so beautiful about the way they look at their daughters: a mix of pride, tenderness, and that quiet realization that childhood is slipping by faster than anyone is ready for. Photographing them feels like capturing a family who truly cherishes the season they’re in.
The Christmas setting made everything feel even more magical. Cozy sweaters, soft winter colors, and that little spark of holiday excitement that kids carry so naturally. The girls twirled, posed, and wrapped their arms around each other in ways that made my heart swell. There were moments of pure silliness and moments of stillness that felt like gifts — the kind of images that remind you what matters most.
As I clicked the shutter, I kept thinking about that very first session years ago. How nervous I was. How grateful I felt. How much their trust meant to me. And now, standing here with them again, watching their family grow and change, I felt that same gratitude all over again. They didn’t just give me my first paid job — they gave me confidence, momentum, and a place to begin.
This session was more than a Christmas shoot. It was a full-circle moment. A reminder of how far this little dream of mine has come, and how blessed I am to walk alongside families like theirs year after year.
Jenna and Nathan, thank you for believing in me from the very beginning. Your family will always hold a special place in my story, and photographing you will forever feel like coming home.
