A joy-filled maternity session

There are some sessions that feel less like work and more like a quiet celebration of life and love. Photographing Carolynn and her sweet family was exactly that. This one meant a lot to me because Carolynn is not just a client. She has been my best friend since our nursing school days; the kind of friend who has walked through every season with me. Getting to document this chapter for her felt like a gift.

Carolynn and Nate are expecting another baby boy this fall, and watching them step into this new season with so much joy made my heart swell. Their first son, little Luke, brought his own spark to the session. He is full of curiosity and wonder, and he adores his parents in the most tender way. Seeing him wrap his arms around Carolynn or look up at Nate with that bright smile reminded me of how quickly these early years pass and how precious it is to freeze these moments in time.

Carolynn has always had this kind, caring presence about her. Even in nursing school when life felt chaotic, she carried a softness that made everyone around her feel grounded. Seeing her now as a mother, glowing with anticipation for her second son, felt like watching her step into a role she was always meant to fill. Nate brings the perfect balance to their family. He is gentle, patient, and endlessly supportive. Together they create a home filled with laughter and warmth, and it shows in every frame.

The evening light wrapped around them in the most beautiful way. Carolynn held her growing belly with that quiet mix of excitement and gratitude that only a mother can understand. Nate stood close, always ready to help, always watching her with that look that says he knows how lucky he is. And Luke ran around them with the kind of joy that only a child can bring to a session. It was simple and sweet and full of real moments.

As I photographed them, I kept thinking about how far we have come since those long nights of studying and dreaming about the future. Now here we are, capturing the story of her growing family. It is a privilege I do not take lightly.

This session was more than pretty photos. It was a reminder of the beauty in friendship, the strength of family, and the miracle of new life. I cannot wait to meet their newest little boy and to watch this family continue to grow in love.
